Online delivery firm Amazon have released a new update for iOS devices that gives them the option of seeing how a pair of shoes fits on their feet through augmented reality (AR).

This update is available for all iOS devices in the US and Canada (sorry Aussies!) from Apple 7 and beyond, giving users the option to try on shoes made by many popular brands such as Adidas and Reebok.

To use this feature, users simply need to scan a QR code, choose the shoes that they want to try on, point the camera towards their feet, and voila! It’s as if they’re already wearing them.

On the downside, this feature can’t be used to measure their foot size and tell them what size shoe they will need. Additionally, it’s not available for Android users, although the company pointed out that it’ll soon launch for them as well.

This is the latest in a series of AR applications by Amazon, who have already released a function that gives their customers the opportunity to see how a piece of furniture would fit into their own space. They also partnered with cosmetics company L’Oreal in an AR venture that let users virtually try out different hairstyles, while more recently they’ve applied the try-on capabilities to other products such as t-shirts and eyewear.
