MOOD, in partnership with UnLtd and Tonic Media Network, has announced details of the second ‘Tea Break’ webinar event that will delve into the links between alcohol and mental health.

Hosted by award winning journalist and host of ABC’s Coronacast, Dr Norman Swan, the free session will be held next Wednesday September 22 at 3:30pm AEST.

The panel features chief sales officer at JCDecaux Australia Oliver Newton, director of Sydney University’s Matilda Centre, Professor Maree Teesson and cognitive behavioral psychologist Professor Frances Kay-Lambkin.

‘Escape from COVID: Alcohol and Your Mental Health’ will uncover the tools and methods to implement healthier habits and behaviours around alcohol consumption as well as addressing the stigma around sobriety.

General manager of MOOD Jenni Hayward commented: “Alcohol abuse is a topic many often shy away from. Sobriety is often stigmatised and the societal pressures to follow the herd are built deep into our culture, particularly in our industry.”

“We’re pleased to partner with the experts for the second edition of the MOOD Tea Break series. This educational series aims to provide support and useful tools for the industry on a range of mental health topics.”

Commercial director of Tonic Media Network Sev Celik added: “This latest lockdown has been relentless and as we think about venues opening up, this is a critical time for us to turn the spotlight on these issues.”

“For me, as a leader, I’m becoming more conscious of the language I use around my team, especially the younger guys to try not to add to the stigma. I’m looking forward to learning what more I can do to foster an inclusive space.”
