Mentors Revealed For B&T Bootcamp 2019!
B&T Bootcamp, presented by Mediacom, is back for 2019 and gives you (or your team) access to incredible industry mentors from across the entire marketing, media and advertising industry.
Each year this event offers attendees speed mentoring sessions with a mix of agency CEOs, executive creative directors, big brand marketers and entrepreneurs. The afternoon consists of practical workshops on negotiation, resilience, communication and leadership.
It’s a unique opportunity to pick the brains of some of the smartest, most strategic and creative brains in the industry.
We’re pretty stoked with the six mentors we’ve lined up so far, and you should be too.
Justin Drape – Co-Founder & Group Chief Creative Officer, The Monkeys
Justin Drape started The Monkeys in 2005 with Scott Nowell and Mark Green. They each invested $10,000 with a vision to create the most provocative creative agency in the country.
Today, their clients include: Qantas, Intel, Telstra, GM/Holden, IKEA, Unicef and Asahi. The agency has won more than 200 creative awards from various shows including D&AD, Cannes, The Clios, One Show, Webbys and AWARD.
In 2018, The Monkeys won B&T‘s most coveted Grand Prix Award at the B&T Awards in addition to Campaign Asia’s Australia Creative Agency of the Year and Mumbrella’s Creative Agency of the Year.
Drape is also a writer and executive producer. He wrote and produced the acclaimed SBS TV series, My Family Feast, and was co-creator and writer of comedy-drama series :30 seconds (working with Andrew Denton’s production company, Zapruder’s Other Films). Both series were nominated for Logie and Australian Film Institute awards.
Jee Moon – Vice President Marketing, American Express
Jee Moon is the Vice President of Marketing for American Express Global Merchant Services, responsible for the Asia Pacific region. She is a seasoned marketer with over 20 years of management experience building and transforming brands and businesses across the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining American Express, Moon held chief marketing roles at organisations such as Luxottica (retail and healthcare), Best&Less (retail), Westpac (financial services), Vodafone, Dell and Canon.
In her last two roles in retail, she was part of the Executive teams, responsible for the turnaround of the businesses, returning them to growth and profitability.
Moon holds a BA in International Relations from Tufts University in Boston, MA, and an MBA from the University of Cambridge, UK. In 2016 she was named one of Australia’s top 50 CMO and in 2018 qualified to serve as Board Director.
Willie Pang – CEO, MediaCom
Willie Pang has more than 20 years’ experience at the leading edge of a number of technology specialties, both for major name organisations and start-ups.
He has worked in the US, UK, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand with expertise spanning IT and technology infrastructure through to cloud computing, marketing automation, big data & analytics and more.
Using his broad and varied experience, Pang sets the innovation agenda for MediaCom and their clients, including assessing mergers & acquisitions, corporate development strategy and digital product strategy for South East Asian markets.
Notable achievements include launching Australia’s first cloud computing solution, Australia’s first independent SSP (supply side platform), APAC’s first DMP (data management platform), sitting on teh Australian Federal Government’s ICT advisory board and having his start-up company, ViDM, winning Magazine’s ‘Fastest growing business in Silicon Valley” award in 2010 (ranking eighth in all of North America).
Katie Rigg-Smith, CEO, Mindshare Australasia
Starting at Mindshare straight out of university, Katie has become known to be one of the brightest strategist minds in Australia. Katie was Mindshare’s National Chief Strategy Officer prior to being promoted to CEO at the start of 2013.
Throughout her career Katie has been recognised both nationally and internationally for her work and contribution to the media industry. Accolades include being listed in B&T‘s Top Ten Most Influential Women in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014, being named as the only media person within the Top Ten Women to Watch in 2013, Australia’s Top 40 under 40 in 2012 and finalist for Asia Pacific Planner of the Year back in 2007.
Katie is incredibly passionate about great media thinking across paid, owned and earned and the role it can play for clients’ business. Katie spent three years lecturing at University on the topic of Media and Communications.
Damian Pincus – Founder, Creative Partner, The Works
Damian Pincus is a creative thinker and has been running creative agency The Works for 17 years. He also played a major part in starting content agency Daresay and On-message, a voice and messaging platform start up.
In 2017 he sold these companies to RXP Services an Australian listed company that leads large digital transformation projects.
Solving big challenges is what gets Pincus out of bed. He is an energetic, enthusiastic leader and is passionate about finding ideas and new ways to grow brands. Working with clients on their business is still what gets him excited and motivated and creating the best environment for people to thrive in.
Pincus has spent 25 years in the advertising/communications industry and has run business’s in the UK, Singapore and Sydney. He has worked across many categories and led brands including Cadbury, Heineken, Nestle, Tiger Beer, Skoda, Jim Beam, Canadian Club, First State Super, Masterpet, Allianz Retire + and Brother. He has also been recognized in the industry winning creative and effectiveness awards including D&AD, Cannes, NY Festivals, Award, Kinsale, ADMA, Global Effies, Grand Effie and gold, silver and bronze Effies.
Anna Karena – Chief Creative Officer, CX Lavender
With a heritage in copywriting, Anna Karena is a master of both message and the modern digital landscape within which it dwells.
She has more than 40 local and international awards, has served on prestigious juries such as Clios, and is a globally recognised creative leader.
In 2018, Karena won the B&T 2018 Women in Media Award for creative.
